I'm not worried at all that it would be a problem for normal day-to-day cutting tasks.
I was wondering what the purpose of that extra hole is, There is not detent so why the hole?

Look at the first pic - small g-clamp to apply pressure on the bottom pin head as it stands slightly proud - then very light pressure with the drill press.

Rookie, you are the master! Wow! The end product looks great and makes for an awesome knife. Hope Sal sees it. SA-made Sprint Run.

Orange or blue Anso-style scales from Allen Putman will make that knife a masterpiece.

I've read somewhere the extra hole was to distinguish the S110V blades from the S30V blades. I'm not sure if that is actually the case. How would you then mark Manix blades for 5 different steels using this method?

I have heard it's more along the lines of testing the steel. But very vague thought

Edit: sorry think this referring to the ping marks on a cruwear military via SF.

Ok good job rookie... can't wait to see your polished edge.

Rookie , I see you put a notch at the shoulder side of the blade, is that to aid sharpening?

What stones did the use to touch up the S110V steel on the EP, Shaptons?

Yep, I normally put a notch on my blades to compensate for over/under grinds.

This particular blade was way off...actually I am disappointed in the quality control from Spyderco - this is the worst ever I have experienced......and I am a Spyderco nut with too many blades too mention....

You will notice that I ramp the notch to prevent snagging.

Yep - Shaptons spritzed with diamond spray - up to 30k - then stropped on 0.1 poly diamond on leather.

Thanks Rook, I'm also a bit disappointed in the QC, my Endura and even the Tenacious just seem better...
Any way I'm going to work EDC the Manix2 the most as it's light.

Will have to order some Shaptons when I order the Angle Cube

Thanks for the help again -
